Summerland Neighborhood Information

• What is it like to live in Summerland, CA? •

This darling, little ocean-side community right next to Montecito to the East has a very laid-back and beachy Californian vibe. It is a little "jewel box" full of surprises and has become a popular alternative to some of Montecito. With around 1500 residents it is a cozy California beach town.

Homes

Summerland‘s homes are mostly situated on the hillside perched above U.S. 101 and comprised of smaller California beach cottages, a few contemporary, and some Victorian homes. The lot sizes are typically a bit smaller. Most of the homes in Summerland enjoy ocean views. Driving further up into the hillside you will find larger-scale properties with bigger homes, ranches, and horse facilities. You can also find some agricultural properties there with avocado and citrus orchards. The views further up here are oftentimes unbelievably stunning. Summerland is also a popular vacation destination with quite a few lovely Airbnb offerings.

Summerland has a quaint, eclectic feel to it. On the main strip, Lillie Avenue, you can find charming coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants and wine tasting. And also an interesting mix of antiques, home furnishing and garden stores.

These eclectic Summerland stores attract many locals and visitors who enjoy an afternoon spent here dining, wine tasting and finding new decor for their homes.
